Entertaining...Humorous...Engaging!!! Impressive Directorial Debut for Aakash Baskaran!!! After a long time, a Good Movie for Atharvaa!!! 

Idhaya(Atharvaa) is about to get married in 24 Hours. He returns from America to India along with his Friends. He comes across a co-passenger called Suriya(Fahadh Faasil) to whom Idhaya and his Friends share Idhaya's Flashback, especially his Love stories. What was Idhaya's past? What was his Love story? What happens to Idhaya's marriage? What was the climax? That's Idhayam Murali 

Idhayam Murali is Love story of a man who hesitates to express his Love. 

Screenplay takes you through Four different phases of Idhaya. 

1. Childhood life of Idhaya(Atharvaa) in his schooldays

2. Teen life of Idhaya in his schooldays and his Love towards Samantha(Preity Mukundan)

3. Bachelor life of Idhaya and his Love towards Amudha (Kayadu Lohar)

4. Idhaya as an Entrepreneur who is going to marry soon.

Childhood Life of Idhaya in his schooldays takes you through many Nostalgic moments of 1990's. Children believing in many myths like Pregnancy happens because of kiss, if you consume water melon seeds, it will grow as a tree inside your stomach etc. It was Funny when Idhaya thinks that his Teacher became pregnant because of a kiss and he thinks he is responsible for her pregnancy. He saves her along with his friends during her labour pain. Idhaya's Teacher(Jonita Gandhi) gives him confidence when he goes for a Fancy Dress show in his school. Childhood life of Idhaya addresses about the innocent love of Idhaya towards his Teacher. 

Teen life of Idhaya in his schooldays and his Love towards Samantha. 

Idhaya Loves Samantha(Preity Mukundan)... He follows her in tuition centre... He follows her in Tennis class...One day Samantha invites Idhaya and his friends for her birthday... Idhaya thinks of proposing Samantha on her birthday but gets shocked when he comes to know that Samantha is a Twin... He can't identify who is Samantha(Priety Mukundan) and who is Samyuktha(Preity Mukundan). Idhaya becomes hesitant and gets a Heartbreak.  

Years move... 

Bachelor Life of Idhaya and his Love towards Amudha. 

Idhaya enjoys his Bachelor life with his friends. He falls in Love with Amudha(Kayadu Lohar). Amudha studies MBBS course. Idhaya moves with Amudha but doesn't express his Love. Amudha completes her MBBS course. She is about to leave chennai. It is last day for her in chennai. She won't return back. Idhaya wants to propose his love in the railway station but doesn't. Amudha leaves Idhaya. The Railway station scene has been inspired and has been made with reference to Idhayam movie that came in 1991. 

Years move...

Idhaya is now a businessman who runs a TV channel along with his uncle. Sachin(Thaman) is about to get married in Madurai. Idhaya goes to madurai to attend the wedding. To his surprise he comes across Samantha after many years who comes there to attend the wedding.  Idhaya gets a chance to move with Samantha. They spend good time with each other. Samantha is now a Scientist in Nasa. Wedding gets over. Samantha is about to leave India. Idhaya again has hesitation to express his Love. Samantha goes to USA. 

Idhaya's uncle requests Idhaya to get married. Idhaya accepts for wedding. Idhaya gets engaged. One day Idhaya comes across Amudha at a shopping mall. Amudha surprisingly expresses her Love to Idhaya stating that she loved him during her MBBS days. Now she is married and has children. She just want to express her Love to Idhaya so that she can be free mentally. This incident changes Idhaya. Idhaya Loves Samantha deeply. He wants to express his Love to Samantha so that he can be free mentally. Idhaya lies to his uncle that he is going to give a Bachelors party to his Friends in USA. He takes his Friends to USA. He meets Samantha in USA. He lies to her that he has come alone to USA on a business trip. He moves and spends good time with her but doesn't express his Love again. Samantha falls in Love with Idhaya and comes to his place to propose her Love. Samantha listens to the conversations which Idhaya has with his Friends and misunderstands him to be a cheat. Since Idhaya didn't reveal about his engagement and since Idhaya hasn't come alone to USA Samantha misunderstands Idhaya to be a cheat and slaps him. Did Samantha understand Idhaya? what happens to Idhaya's wedding? That's Idhayam Murali. 

As Idhaya, Atharvaa has performed well. 

Preity Mukundan and Kayadu Lohar have performed their roles well. 

Idhaya's Friends keeps you entertained. 

Paridhabangal Sudhakar, Thaman, Rakshan, Dravid Selvam and Niharika NM have performed their roles well and keeps you entertained.

Extended cameo for Fahadh Faasil. He adds value to Idhayam Murali through his screen presence. 

As uncle of Idhaya, Natty Subramaniam has performed his role well. However, his character wasn't written with depth. 

Jonita Gandhi scores in her small role as a Teacher. 

Fefsi Vijayan, Ramki and Chinni Jayanth appear in small roles and scores. 

Malavika Mohanan appears in a small cameo role.

Production values were Rich. Cinematography was Top Notch. Making of Idhayam Murali gave a Feel of watching a Hollywood movie. 

Background score and music of Thaman is a Big plus for Idhayam Murali.

Good Direction and Screenplay by Aakash Baskaran. Impressive Debut as a Director!!!

Costume designs were impressive.

Minus: 

1. Idhayam Murali runs for 2 Hours and 45 minutes. Lengthy movie. 

2. The Two fight sequences that comes in the First half and Second half with Dhoni and CSK references were unnecessary or forced. 

3. Idhayam Murali doesn't analyze why Idhaya has hesitation to propose his love.. Is he nervous? Does he have Fear of Rejection? What are his thought processes? The movie doesn't address it.   

Overall, Idhayam Murali is a Love story that has been made in an Entertaining way!!! After a long time, a Good Movie for Atharvaa!!!

Production values are Rich. Looks like a one sided love story or about unexpressed Love. 

Kattazhagi

Thaman's voice sounds like Simbu/STR in this song. Beats are Good. Tune is catchy. Gives a party vibe. But music dominates the lyrics. Unable to hear the lyrics clearly. 

Vaama Vaama 

A Beautiful Breezy Romantic melody in Dhanush voice. Lyric video and the Visuals have been created or made with retro effect. Impressive.

Title Announcement 

Title Announcement is Creative, Humorous and Impressive. It's been a long time since Thaman appeared in movies. It's good to see Thaman back in movies again.
