Review

Palanisamy, an undercover officer(Kali Venkat) talks about Kingpin logistics to Police officers. Kingpin Logistics is headed by Simon(Nagarjuna) at Visakhapatnam harbour. He runs a syndicate Smuggling Gold and Luxury watches. Apart from smuggling, there is something secretive about Kingpin Logistics. Next day Palanisamy is murdered in front of Coolies by Dayalan, right hand of Simon..Dayalan announces that there is another undercover officer among the Coolies. If coolies figure out that another officer, a reward of 2 crores would be given says Dayalan. 

Deva(Rajni) runs a mansion in chennai. He receives the demise news of his Friend Rajasekhar (Sathyaraj) who lives in visakhapatnam. Deva discovers that Rajasekhar was murdered and his death wasn't natural. Through Rajasekhar's friend Ravi(Charle) Deva discovers that Rajasekhar was working for Simon. Rajasekhar invents a mobile cremation device..His work gets rejected by the Government. Simon who comes to know about the Mobile cremation device, approaches Rajasekhar, threatens and coerces him to dispose and disappear dead bodies that are murdered by Simon's gang. 

Rajasekhar has 3 daughters. He agrees to do the job and in return receives money from Simon.

Apart from Rajasekhar, Preethi(Shruthi Haasan) eldest daughter of Rajasekhar knows how to operate the mobile cremation device. Dayalan recalls it and sends his men to bring Preethi. Preethi is saved by Deva. Preethi initially hurts Deva but eventually understands that he is there to save her and her sisters. Deva along with Preethi accepts to dispose dead bodies through Mobile cremation device. Deva's intention of joining the gang is to find out who killed Rajasekhar. 

One day Simon sends two dead bodies for disposal to Deva. Dayalan is one among the dead bodies. Dayalan is an undercover officer. Deva and Preethi discover that Dayalan is still alive miraculously. Dayalan pleads Deva to leave him. Looking at his condition, Deva leaves Dayalan along with Preethi only to later know through Simon that it was Dayalan who killed Rajasekhar. 

Dayalan is an undercover officer who plays double cross. He is neither loyal to the department nor loyal to Simon. He wants to make money and at the same time collects details about the illegal activities of Simon. 

Dayalan abducts Preethi and blackmails Deva to follow his orders. Did Deva Save Preethi from Dayalan? Did Deva take revenge on Dayalan? What is the secretive activity done by Simon in the Harbour? Simon has a Dejavu of seeing Deva somewhere..Who is Deva? Simon's son Arjun is killed by Dayalan and he is betrayed by Kalyani. Did Simon take revenge on Dayalan and Kalyani? Who is above Simon? Did Deva Save Coolies from Simon? Did Deva save Preethi and her sisters? What is the relation between Deva and Preethi? That's Coolie.

A Mass Entertainer that would be a Feast for Rajni fans!!! 

Apart from Rajni, Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has utilised Soubin Shahir, Nagarjuna, Shruthi Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan and Rachita Ram well in the Screenplay.

Rajni-> Stylish and Mass 

Soubin Shahir-> Ruthless and cunning Villain 

Nagarjuna-> Stylish Villain

Shruthi Haasan-> One of her Good and Best Performances to remember.

Upendra and Aamir Khan-> Good Cameo 

Sathyaraj-> Although his portion is small, he is important for the story.

Rachita Ram-> Her character was a surprise.

Pooja Hegde-> Rocks in dance in Monica song along with Soubin Shahir.

Anirudh's Background score and Music is a Big plus for Coolie. 

Stunts have been made well. 

Cinematography is Impressive.

From the beginning till the end, I was able to Travel with the story. Good Direction by Lokesh Kanagaraj. There are Twists and Turns in the Screenplay..

Minus: 1. Coolie is Lengthy. Runs for 167 minutes. 2. Flashback of Rajni is Mass. But there is not a solid Flashback to showcase the importance of Deva's Leadership and care towards the Coolies. A Solid Flashback would have added much more strength to the movie 3. Second half is a bit predictable although there are Twists and Turns in the story. 4. Coolie had the Dejavu of Baasha. Rajni wasn't portrayed in a new dimension. 5. If you are looking for a Rajni movie, you would be happy and wouldn't be disappointed..But if you are looking for a Lokesh Kanagaraj movie, you would be disappointed a bit as there are many logical loopholes in the script. I would say Forget the logic. Go and watch Coolie for Rajni's Magic. 

Overall, a Mass Entertainer from Director Lokesh Kanagaraj!!!
