Dorothy would remain as one of the Bold and most controversial movies of Tamil Cinema. A Film that addresses about Toxic Masculinity, Transgender women, Gay Love, Caste Fanatic mentality and Honour killing. A Movie that addresses about the world of Transgender women. A Movie that supports LGBTQ community. Dorothy would have divided opinions and mixed reactions. Those who support LGBTQ community would accept and support Dorothy. Those who are against LGBTQ community wouldn't accept and oppose Dorothy. From the beginning till the climax, Dorothy was Engaging. One of the Best works of Director Karthik Subbaraj!!!
This is not the First film that addresses about Transgender woman. Back in 2019, Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja addressed about it in Super Deluxe movie where Actor Vijay Sethupathi acted as a Transgender Woman.
Background Score and Songs of Maestro Ilayaraaja is Soul of Dorothy. Excellent work by Maestro Ilayaraja. Ilayaraaja's Music is a Big plus for Dorothy. Audience clapped and whistled for Maestro Ilayaraja's Title card that comes in the beginning with Raja Rajadhi Rajan indha Raja song.

Someone who grows up in a Family that has Toxic masculinity...Someone who hides his Feminine nature...Someone who understands his internal gender identity...As Subbu and Dorothy, Sananth has performed well...Dorothy is Career Best Performance of Sananth until now...
Best Friend of Subbu...Someone who accompanies Subbu...Someone who is Masculine...Someone who does a murder to protect Subbu... Thinks Transgender woman as disgusting initially... Understands Subbu later... As Karthi, Rishikanth has performed well.
It is Dorothy who awakens the True nature of Subbu and makes him open up about his true gender identity. Keerthy Suresh role is small as Dorothy. However, her role is Imporant for the story. She has done her part well.
A Bad man... A Money Lender...Whistles most of the time...A Caste Fanatic...A man of Toxic Masculinity... Someone who goes for Honour killing... Someone who is responsible for the deaths of his daughter, wife, Dorothy and goes to the extent of killing his own son simply because he has become a Transgender woman. As Whistle Veeraiya, Muthukumar has performed well.
The Two Child Artists who come as Subbu and Karthi have performed well. Director Karthik Subbaraj has established the Friendship of Subbu and Karthi well in the screenplay through these child artists.
Ramachandran Durairaj, Soundarraja, Jeeva Subramaniam, the lady who comes as Mother of Karthi and others have performed their roles well.
Performances of Actors were Natural.
Dorothy was Humorous and Natural. For example, when Karthi comes to know that Subbu has become a Transgender, his reactions were Natural and Humorous.
Fight sequences weren't forced in the Screenplay. They went well with the flow of the movie. Fight sequences were Raw, Rustic, Realistic and natural.
Tirru's cinematography was Impressive.
Dialogues were written well. Dorothy addresses about Gender Discrimination and addresses it as a route cause for the mistreatment of Transgenders in the society. Transgenders don't get their due recognition in the society because of the way they are perceived in the society..Because of mistreatment and lack of recognition, Transgenders either beg in the streets or become prostitutes in the society. Dorothy addresses about it. In Future, Transgenders would be accepted by the society. Dorothy addresses it.
Production values were Good.
Production design was Good.
Editing was impressive.
Minus:
1. The Friendship between Karthi and Subbu was Beautiful. Making it as a Gay Love towards the end demeans their beautiful friendship and it wasn't convincing.
2. Cause of Dorothy's(Keerthy Suresh) Death was a Mystery. The root cause of her death or how did she die wasn't revealed properly in the Screenplay.
Overall, Dorothy is an interesting and controversial film that supports LGBTQ community !!!

For almost 2 minutes & 5 seconds, song runs with music and chorus. Then Swetha mohan's voice arrives. Song reaches its peak when Maestro Ilayaraaja's voice arrives. Goosebumps. Nicely picturised.

Kalyana Virundhu song gives a classic vintage vibe of Ilayaraaja's songs. Yugendran, Anthony Daasan and Priya Jerson have sung the song well. Celebrative. Sema Vibe.
