Good movie. One of the Career Best Performance of Karthi. Vaa Vaathiyaar shows us how Talented Karthi is as an Actor.
Rameshwaran's(Karthi) birth coincides with MGR's death time and date. Rameshwaran's Grand Father(Raj Kiran) considers Rameshwaran as an embodiment of MGR. He nurtures him with Good traits and skills.
One day Ramu buys a lottery and wins Rupees 50000. Ramu is excited to share the news to his Grand Father. Unexpectedly Grand father tears the lottery paper stating " Uzhaithu Vaazha Vendum" and says that lottery is not ethical. This incident changes Ramu. He grows up like Nambiar and becomes a corrupt police officer not revealing his true nature to his Grand Father as he Loves and respects him.
An unknown Online gang called "Manjal mugam" exposes the corruption and injustice acts of the ruling party. Rameshwaran creates a strategy to trap the gang and he succeeds in his mission.
Ramu's Grand Father comes to know about the true colors of Ramu. He passes away. Grand Father's death affects Ramu. It Creates a Split Personality in him. Manjal Mugam gang is actually good..They are in danger now...Ruling party passes unofficial orders to finish them. Ramu comes as Vaathiyaar and saves the gang. Ramu is split between Ramu and Vaathiyaar. Did Ramu figure out who Vaathiyaar is? Did Vaathiyaar expose Chief Minister (Nizhalgal Ravi) and Periyasami (Sathyaraj) through Manjal Mugam? Did Vaathiyaar save the Manjal Mugam? Did Good conquer evil? That's Vaa Vaathiyaar.
Karthi Rocks the show as Ramu and Vaathiyaar. He has Transformed himself as MGR when he becomes Vaathiyaar.
A Powerful middleman and a Political broker. As Periyasamy, Sathyaraj has performed well.
As Grandfather, Raj Kiran has performed well.
P.L. Thenappan and G.M. Sundar have performed in their roles well
Krithi Shetty has given what has been expected out of her. But her character lacks depth.
Shilpa Manjunath's character lacks depth.
Karunakaran has been wasted.
Anandharaj comes as a MGR imitator and a fan.
First half is Good. Second half is interesting but predictable.
Good music by Santhosh Narayanan.
Vaa Vaathiyaar is a Good work of Nalan Kumarasamy. But it is not his Best work. Vaa Vaathiyaar lacks depth and has logical loopholes or flaws. Screenplay is a bit predictable in the second half.
Vaa Vaathiyaar indirectly addresses about Sterlite protest and the shoot out.
Release strategy by Studio Green was poor. Not many know that Vaa Vaathiyaar has hit the theatres.
Vaa Vaathiyaar might turn out to be a disappointment for Nalan Kumarasamy Fans.
Overall, Vaa Vaathiyaar is a Good Movie that can be watched once for Karthi's performance!!!
