Karuppu is a Treat for Suriya Fans. A Divine Mass Entertainer with a Social Message from Director RJ Balaji!!! Suriya is Terrific as Karuppu and Rocks the show!!!

Binu(Anagha Maaya Ravi) along with her Father(Indrans) from Kerala visit chennai via Train. Binu's liver is affected. They visit chennai for a surgery. They carry 60 sovereigns of Gold with them for the surgery. They are misguided by a passenger who asks them to get down at Basin Bridge junction. When they get down, a theft happens. Their Gold is stolen. Binu and her Father approach a Police station. Cops finds out the stolen jewels but asks Binu and her Father to recover the stolen jewels through court procedures. A constable from the police station gives the visiting card of Baby Kannan(RJ Balaji), a corrupt lawyer who runs a Mafia and controls the court. He has corrupt relationships with Judges, Lawyers, politicians and cops. Unaware of it, Binu and her Father innocently trusts Baby Kannan, thinking that he would recover the jewels for them. Baby Kannan extracts money from Binu and his Father. Their simple case is extended and prolonged for months. At a point of time, Binu and her Father understands that Baby Kannan is exploiting them. At a point of time, Baby Kannan challenges and threatens Binu's Father that nobody would handle his case. Helpless, Binu's Father prays to Karuppanasamy deity for Justice. There is a belief that if one prays from the bottom of the heart and applies Chilli paste to Karuppu, he would fulfill the true wishes of his devotees. Binu's Father prays from the bottom of the heart and applies Chilli paste to Karuppu. God Karuppu descends to earth as Lawyer Saravanan(Suriya). Did Karuppu got Justice for Binu's Father? What happens after the arrival of God Karuppu? That's Karuppu.

There is a Maxim that Justice delayed is Justice denied. Karuppu addresses about it. If legal redress is not provided in a timely manner, it is equivalent to having no remedy at all. This principle asserts that excessive delays in the judicial process render the final verdict useless, causing prolonged suffering, financial ruin, and lost confidence in the law. Karuppu addresses about how some Lawyers prolong the case wantedly for their financial gains. Karuppu addresses about how some Lawyers exploit their innocent clients through court procedures. Karuppu addresses about the corrupt judicial system. Karuppu addresses about the Judges who are corrupt. Karuppu addresses about the corrupt relationships that exist between Lawyers,Judges, cops and politicians. People approach court believing that they will get Justice. That belief shouldn't be broken. People pray to God for justice before entering the court. There is no need of God if our Judicial system functions majestically. RJ Balaji addresses it mixing Fiction, Fantasy and Spirituality through Karuppu.

A Larger than Life Image role for Suriya as God Karuppu. Suriya has understood the role well and has given a Terrific performance!!! Karuppu would be a Treat for Suriya Fans!!!

Sai Abhyankkar is another Hero of Karuppu. His Background score and music elevates the movie to a whole new level Entertaining masses.

G.K. Vishnu's Cinematography is Impressive and is a Big strength for Karuppu.

Some scenes create a Trance state of mind while watching the movie. Good Editing by R. Kalaivanan..

RJ Balaji plays the Baddie as Baby Kannan..He has performed well!!!

Indrans and Anagha Maaya Ravi have performed their roles well reflecting the pain of getting cheated through judicial system.

As a Lawyer and a devotee of God Karuppu, Trisha has performed her role well within her scope as Preethi.

Natty Subramaniam has performed his role well as a corrupt judge.

Someone who is helpless and requests lawyers to take up her case... As Kanmani,Shivada has performed her part well.

First half is Engaging...

Second half is Creative....

Visual effects were Good.

Dialogues are written well.

Karuppu has references to Leo, Singam, LKG and Jai Bhim movies which would entertain audiences and masses.

Production design was impressive.

Fantasy and Spiritual elements increase the mass value of the movie.

Minus:

1. Is RJ Balaji showing or portraying Tamils in a bad light? A Question arises.

2. Second half is Creative. However, over a point of time you understand that God Karuppu has upper hand.. Screenplay becomes a bit predictable...

3. RJ Balaji has tried to balance and blend Reality and Spirituality. He has done it good. He could have done it better.

4. Swasika was under utilised.

5. There were lip sync issues in some scenes of Trisha
